    [abstract] =>

The paper discusses the results of research conducted among young people belonging to the NEET group (not in employment, education or training), analyzing the relations between sociodemographic variables and the attitude towards work variable. An attempt was made to answer three research questions: a) whether there is a relationship between the level of education of the representatives of the NEET group covered by the research and their attitudes towards work; b) whether attitudes towards work of the surveyed members of the NEET group are differentiated in terms of gender; c) whether professional activity of parents or guardians (working vs. not working) differentiates the surveyed NEET group in terms of attitudes towards work. The Work Attitude Questionnaire by A. Czerw (2013) was used to study the attitudes towards work. The author distinguished two factors: a) factor no. 1 is the hedonistic/ autotelic attitude; b) factor no. 2 is the normative attitude. 94 young people from the NEET group participated in the research, i.e. people who were unemployed and not participating in formal education or lifelong learning. All the people came from revitalized areas in the Silesian Province. The analyses conducted: a) did not demonstrate significant differences between persons with various levels of education; b) demonstrated significant differences between women and men with regard to the normative attitude (with the men obtaining higher scores than the women); c) demonstrated significant differences between the persons whose guardians were professionally active and inactive with regard to the normative attitude and generally (with the men obtaining higher scores than the women). The paper concludes with some considerations on the situation of NEET youth on the labor market at the time of the research, in the context of the possibilities of providing them with effective assistance.
